The Lahore High Court ordered the release of Tehreek-e-Insaf President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. On Friday, the court ruled on Pervaiz Elahi’s request and ordered his release.
The single bench of the Lahore High Court heard the petition filed against the arrest of Parvez Elahi, in connection with which the NAB officials produced the former chief minister in the court.
Pervez Elahi had challenged his arrest in the court on behalf of NAB and Justice Amjad Rafique had asked DG NAB to issue a warrant if Pervez Elahi was not produced.
On Friday, the court ruled on Pervaiz Elahi’s request and ordered his release.
During the hearing in the Lahore High Court, Justice Amjad Rafiq inquired that the accountability court had been told that the intra-court appeal had been dismissed. On this, the NAB prosecutor said that it is not in my knowledge.
On the NAB prosecutor’s reply, Justice Amjad Rafiq said that there will be a complete inquiry, I am now ordering the immediate release of Parvez Elahi.
It remained evident that when Pervez Elahi had first filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, the court had granted him bail in all cases and had ordered not to arrest him in any pending inquiry. However, the Punjab government had appealed before a two-member bench against the decision of the single bench, which had suspended the single bench’s judgment.
Meanwhile, NAB had arrested Parvez Elahi in the case of kickbacks.
