The Lahore High Court has reserved its decision on the appeal by PEMRA against the ban on the broadcast of Imran Khan’s speeches and statements.
Lahore High Court judge Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza heard the petition, during the hearing the court remarked that the head of a political party cannot be banned in this way. It is against freedom of expression.
Pemra’s counsel objected that the matter cannot be heard here, the full bench has to hear it. I plead with the court that it has no jurisdiction.
After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its verdict.
Imran Khan had requested that banning statements and speeches is a violation of fundamental constitutional rights. PEMRA has imposed a complete ban on the broadcast of Imran Khan’s speeches.
