Veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has spoken about one of the most difficult periods of his life, recalling the final days of his mother, legendary actress Nargis Dutt.
During an interview with a YouTube channel, the 67-year-old actor said that his debut film, Rocky, was being filmed in 1981 when his mother fell into a coma after battling pancreatic cancer.
According to Sanjay Dutt, his father, renowned actor Sunil Dutt, instructed him to complete the filming of the movie despite the family’s difficult circumstances.
He said that he was unable to understand why finishing the film was necessary while his mother remained in a critical condition, but he followed his father’s advice and returned to be with her after completing the shoot.
Sanjay Dutt said he watched his mother fight for her life and believed that she wanted to return home.
He added that Nargis Dutt continued her struggle until she reached home, but passed away shortly afterwards.
Nargis Dutt died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 51, while Sunil Dutt passed away from a heart attack in 2005 at the age of 75.
