A significant increase in stomach-related illnesses, particularly gastroenteritis cases, has been observed in Karachi due to the recent extreme heat, raising concern among medical experts.
According to officials at Jinnah Hospital, more than 150 patients suffering from stomach-related diseases are arriving at the hospital daily, whereas the number on normal days used to remain around 50.
Hospital administration stated that most patients are experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and digestive complications, which are believed to be linked to contaminated water and unhygienic food consumption.
Medical experts have advised citizens to adopt strict precautionary measures, including the use of clean and boiled water, while avoiding stale, uncovered, and unhygienic food to stay protected from illness.
Experts further warned that failure to follow hygiene practices during extreme weather conditions can rapidly increase stomach-related diseases, urging the public to remain cautious.
