Karachi: Thunderstorm clouds may develop over the outskirts of Karachi after midday today, although hot weather is expected to persist across the city, according to a weather analyst.
The maximum temperature is expected to range between 38°C and 40°C, while the heat may feel as intense as 42°C to 48°C in different parts of the city.
According to the analyst, thunderstorm clouds could begin developing over Karachi’s outskirts after 12pm to 1pm, bringing the possibility of gusty winds, thunder and rain.
Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is possible around the M-9, DHA, Gadap and Dumba Goth areas.
Similar conditions could also affect Scheme 33, Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Port Qasim and Steel Town.
Other parts of Karachi have a 45% to 60% chance of receiving light to moderate rainfall, the analyst said.
The analyst noted that the monsoon system usually weakens over southern Pakistan at this time of the year, but intense heat can trigger the local development of thunderstorm clouds.
However, no severe or widespread rainfall is currently expected in Karachi.
