Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has launched a seven-day special anti-polio campaign across the city.
The campaign was inaugurated at the National Institute of Child Health.
According to the Health Department, the campaign aims to administer polio drops to 2.5 million children across Karachi.
Officials said the special anti-polio drive will be conducted in all 201 union councils of the city.
The Health Department said 7,853 police personnel have been deployed to provide security to polio vaccination teams.
