Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actress Urmila Matondkar have once again become the focus of media attention after a senior Indian journalist claimed that the pair had secretly married during their relationship.
According to Indian media reports, veteran journalist Jyothi Venkatesh said in a YouTube interview that actor Chiranjeevi had informed him about the alleged marriage.
Venkatesh claimed that Chiranjeevi questioned why he had never reported the story despite working as an entertainment journalist.
According to the journalist, Chiranjeevi told him that the marriage had taken place at a temple in Andhra Pradesh and even provided the contact details of the priest who had allegedly conducted the ceremony.
Venkatesh further claimed that he contacted Urmila Matondkar before publishing the story and that she became emotional during the conversation.
He also said that Ram Gopal Varma declined to comment when approached for a response.
The journalist alleged that Matondkar wanted to formalise the relationship legally, while Varma was not prepared to do so, eventually leading to their separation.
The two worked together in several films, including Rangeela, Daud, Satya and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
Neither Ram Gopal Varma nor Urmila Matondkar has officially confirmed or denied the claims.
