The Federal Ministry of Health has released detailed data on newly reported HIV cases across Pakistan for the year 2025, stating that a total of 14,182 new cases were recorded, with a monthly average of approximately 1,182 cases, indicating the ongoing spread of the disease.
According to the ministry, there was a noticeable variation in the number of cases reported throughout the year, with the lowest number recorded in March 2025 at 1,016 cases, while the highest was observed in July with 1,443 cases, and overall, the second half of the year saw a higher average of reported cases.
The data further shows that the majority of new HIV cases were reported among men, with 8,386 male patients accounting for 59 percent of the total cases, while 3,314 cases were reported among women, making up 23 percent of the total.
Similarly, HIV cases were also reported among children, with 1,748 cases recorded, representing 12 percent of the total, raising concerns among health experts.
The Ministry of Health also stated that 734 cases were reported within the transgender community, accounting for 5 percent of the overall cases, highlighting the spread within this group as well.
Provincial data shows that Punjab reported the highest number of cases at 7,920, followed by Sindh with 3,859, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 1,383, Islamabad with 498, and Balochistan with 472 cases, reflecting the nationwide presence of the disease.
