The Provincial Election Commission has announced the date of swearing in of the successful candidates in the local body elections. The oath taking of all elected members in the Karachi local body elections will be held on May 22.
According to the Election Commission of Sindh, the Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Ward Members of the successful Union Councils in the municipal elections will take their oaths on 22nd May.
The Provincial Election Commission stated that there are a total of 246 elected members in the City Council of the capital city, therefore Karachi has been designated as a metropolitan corporation.
It is evident that the results of the municipal elections on 9 seats are being withheld by various courts and the Election Commission.
On the other hand, the Election Commission has released the schedule for the next stages of the municipal system in Sindh.
According to the Election Commission of Sindh, the nomination papers for Town Chairs and Vice Chairs will be collected from 22nd to 24th May, while the formation of Town Council and City Council will be completed from 3rd to 4th June.
