Former fast bowler Zaheer Khan has expressed his desire to become the head coach of the Indian cricket team and also gave an interesting reason to the host.
One of India’s most successful fast bowlers, Zaheer Khan, is currently serving as a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL franchise is making full use of his vast experience to groom its young players.
Recently, Zaheer Khan attended an event in Kolkata, where, during a conversation, he was asked about the possibility of coaching Team India in the future. Responding to the host, Zaheer said that it would be impossible if he had not applied to become India’s head coach. The former bowler said that coaching Team India would be an honor.
In the future, the inclusion of Zaheer as Team India’s head coach could prove beneficial as he holds significant experience in the IPL, and he has previously worked with Mumbai Indians as Director of Cricket and also served as a bowling coach.
It is worth mentioning that Zaheer Khan is counted among the best fast bowlers in the history of Indian fast bowling. He was an important part of the Indian team that won the 2011 ODI World Cup, where he delivered an outstanding performance by taking 21 wickets in just 9 matches.
In 2011, Zaheer Khan was also honored with the Arjuna Award by the President of India, which is the country’s second-highest sporting honor.
