Former champion team Karachi Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal, while criticizing Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen, said that the league should not be defamed—we all are part of it as franchise owners.
He said that since the beginning of PSL, doubts have been cast on us. We have faced criticism from India and some other TV channels, but it hurts the most when one of our own, a team owner, mocks and insults the league.
Salman Iqbal further said that Pakistan Super League (PSL) is progressing; it is our pride. Salman Naseer and the PCB team are making every effort to take the league to new heights. Instead of negativity and criticism, we as team owners should support them.
It is worth mentioning that two days ago, in an interview, Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen, who owns the former PSL champion team, severely criticized the board’s franchise rental model.
Ali Tareen said that all the league’s franchises are currently operating on a “rental model,” in which team owners do not have actual ownership. We pay rent annually to keep the franchises; if we don’t, our ownership rights can be taken away.
