Lahore: The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier begins today in Lahore, where Pakistan will face Ireland in the opening match of the qualifying round.
The match will start at 9:30 AM at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Apart from host Pakistan, teams from the West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand are participating in the event.
Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team will be led by captain Fatima Sana. The Pakistani team will play its second match against Scotland on April 11, third against the West Indies on April 14, fourth against Thailand on April 17, and its fifth and final match against Bangladesh on April 19.
In a warm-up match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, the Bangladesh Women’s team defeated Pakistan Women A by 167 runs.
Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana scored 70, Farzana Haque made 50, and Jannatul Ferdous contributed 46 runs. For Pakistan Women A, Umme Hani and Waheeda Akhtar took 3 wickets each, while Tania Saeed claimed 2 wickets. In reply, Pakistan Women A were bowled out for 109 runs in 39.1 overs. Only three batters managed to reach double figures. Dua Majeed scored 32 and Umme Hani made 26. Marufa Akhter, Rabeya Khan, and Fahima Khatun each took two wickets.
