Chief Organizer of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz, has demanded the resignation of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Omar Ata Bandial, holding him responsible for the ongoing crisis in the country.
Addressing the protest sit-in outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Maryam Nawaz stated that as long as Omar Ata Bandial remains the highest judge of the country, free and fair elections are not possible.
She directly addressed the Chief Justice, saying that after his resignation, the elections will be held as scheduled.
She stated that everyone should be aware that the current crisis gripping the nation is not born out of Jinnah Park but is rooted as much in Omar Ata Bandial’s chair.
The Chief Organizer of PML-N said, “Is there any leader who has been sent home by the Supreme Court? The theory of necessity has always been revived for the sake of rulers.”
She further stated that if an elected Prime Minister is declared incompetent, they are hanged; if someone is deemed rebellious, they are exiled, and if someone is disliked, they are shot.
She emphasized that when four martial laws were imposed in the country, the first blow was struck on this building (Supreme Court). When the first martial law and the first dictator arrived, the blow was struck on this building. Even when the second, third, and fourth martial laws came, the blow was still struck here (Supreme Court).
Maryam Nawaz stated that today, when our military is not prepared to enforce martial law, it stands alongside the constitution and the law. Today, the fifth martial law, “Judicial Martial Law,” has been imposed in Pakistan from here. She said that the constitution has been rewritten, and a wrong interpretation of Article 63-A has been made. The constitution states that when a member of a party votes against the party line, they are deseated, not that their vote will not be counted. However, Omar Ata Bandial rewrote the constitution and made the decision that such a member will be deseated, and their vote will not be counted.
