Karachi: The meteorological department has forecasted rain accompanied by thunder and lightning across the country today.Drizzle is expected in the coastal areas of Karachi.
According to details, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the country on Monday, while heavy downpours have wreaked havoc in different cities of Punjab and Balochistan.
The meteorological department has predicted light to heavy rain during the next twenty-four hours in Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, Kohlu, Qalat, Khuzdar, Lahore, Mianwali, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Karak, Bunno, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Meanwhile, coastal areas of Karachi are expected to experience strong winds and high tides.
In Punjab and various cities of Balochistan, heavy downpours have caused widespread devastation. Thirteen people, including two women, have lost their lives, and seven others have been injured due to lightning strikes in different areas of Sheikhupura, Narowal, Pasrur, and Daska. In Duki, a child was swept away in the flooding.
Intermittent rainfall is occurring in several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, where flooding has been reported in different areas after the rain in Qalat, Barkhan, and Kohlu. Ziarat is experiencing hailstorm.
Muzaffarabad city and its surrounding areas have witnessed light rain, while heavy downpours have occurred in Peshawar, Bunno, and Kark. The meteorological department has predicted rainfall across the country until 30th June, raising concerns about urban flooding in residential areas.
