Millions of pilgrims will perform the main pillar of Hajj, known as “Wuquf Arafah,” today in the plains of Arafat. The pilgrims will engage in worship at Masjid Namrah and the plains of Arafat, where they will also listen to the sermon of Hajj.
Saudi authorities have completed preparations in the plains of Arafat to welcome the pilgrims. The pilgrim caravans started arriving at the plains of Arafat between Monday and Tuesday nights.
The pilgrims will pray the Dhuhr and Asr prayers together with one Adhan and two Iqamahs, shortening their prayers. They will stay in Arafat until sunset, performing the act of Wuquf.
As soon as the sun sets, the pilgrim caravans will proceed to Muzdalifah, where they will collect pebbles for the symbolic stoning of the Devil and spend the night there. After the Fajr prayer, they will head to Mina.
It should be noted that on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, also known as Yawm Tarwiyah, the pilgrims stayed in the tent city of Mina and, after offering prayers at all five appointed times, set off for the plains of Arafat.
Sheikh Dr. Yousuf bin Saeed will deliver the sermon of Hajj. The honored pilgrims will listen to the special sermon of Hajj at Masjid Namrah in the plains of Arafat and offer the combined Dhuhr and Asr prayers, shortening them.
The pilgrims will remain engaged in the remembrance of Allah throughout the day and offer special prayers. As soon as the sun sets, they will proceed to Muzdalifah, where they will combine and shorten the Maghrib and Isha prayers.
In Muzdalifah, the pilgrims will spend the night under the open sky. It is the place where pebbles for stoning the Devil are collected.
On the morning of the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, after offering the Fajr prayer, the honored pilgrims will return to Mina, from where they will proceed to the Jamrat for the stoning of the Devil.
After stoning the Devil, the honored pilgrims will sacrifice animals in the way of Allah and then remove their Ihram, signifying the completion of Hajj.
