Former Senator Hafiz Hamdullah, the leader of JUI and former spokesperson of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), spoke to the media at Maulvi Shamsuddin Kabzai’s residence in Loralai. He stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was not consulted regarding the Dubai consultation.
He expressed disappointment that the negotiations between the PPP and PML-N in Dubai were already decided without the knowledge of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the PDM, and it was equivalent to undermining our past political struggles. He questioned why Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the PDM, was kept away from consultations.
Hafiz Hamdullah emphasized that elections should be held at their designated time, as the terms of the assemblies will end on August 12 and 13. The spokesperson of the PDM stated that if the assemblies are dissolved before their term, elections will take place within 90 days.
However, if the assemblies complete their term, elections will be held within 60 days. He clarified that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission, not the responsibility of the PDM, to conduct elections. He reiterated that elections will be held on time and there are no two opinions about it.
He emphasized that the parties included in the PDM and ruling alliances are not electoral alliances. Each party will participate in the elections according to its performance. Each party will contest the elections separately, but seat adjustments are possible.
Hafiz Hamdullah stated that if Jamaat-e-Islami nominates Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a future presidential candidate, he will definitely participate in that democratic process. On this occasion, he also mentioned that they will form the government in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
