ISLAMABAD: The government has prepared to increase the cost of electricity by about 8 rupees per unit on IMF terms after the increase in the price of petrol and dollar.
The government team will assure the IMF today of the increase in the basic electricity tariff. The increase in the electricity price will be done separately in the quarterly adjustment.
With the permission of the Prime Minister, IMF will be given a new circular date plan today. In order to reduce the circular debt, the basic electricity tariff has to be increased. The electricity line losses will also be reduced. Gas prices will also be increased.
