Pakistan’s T20 team is set for major changes, with sources saying Salman Ali Agha’s tenure as captain has ended and he has also been dropped from the squad.
According to sources, Salman has been excluded from the T20 side after losing his place in the Test team. He will now remain part of the ODI squad only.
Sahibzada Farhan and Shadab Khan are competing for the T20 captaincy. Sources said a decision had also been made to drop Shaheen Afridi from the T20 squad following Haris Rauf’s exclusion.
Shaheen has taken a Pakistan record 136 wickets in the format, while Haris has claimed 133. Razaullah, the hero of the Edgbaston Test, is a strong contender for selection in both the T20 and ODI squads.
According to sources, Shaheen will continue to lead the ODI team, while Test captain Babar Azam will feature in both the T20 and ODI squads.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play three T20 matches in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13.
A triangular ODI tournament will then take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 18 to 31, featuring hosts Pakistan alongside England and Sri Lanka.
