England set Sri Lanka a target of 430 in the third ODI of the tri-nation series, powered by captain Harry Brook’s double century.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl in the match being played in Rawalpindi.
England posted 429 for four in their allotted 50 overs. Brook played a record-breaking innings, reaching his double century off 114 balls with 10 sixes and 21 fours.
He became the first England batter to score a double century in ODI cricket.
Brook was dismissed for 202 off 116 balls. Will Jacks remained unbeaten on 66 off 30 deliveries, while Joe Root scored 69 and Tom Banton contributed 50.
It was the first time a team had crossed 400 in an ODI at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The previous highest total at the venue was Pakistan’s 337.
Before Brook’s innings, Gary Kirsten had scored 188 at the stadium in 1996.
