Federal Investigation Agency Director General Dr Usman Anwar has said that people attempting to travel abroad illegally have changed their routes and are now trying to reach Europe by air.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Dr Anwar said young people travelled abroad in search of a better future. However, he noted that conditions in Europe were no longer as favourable as they had been previously.
He said those undertaking irregular journeys, commonly known as “dunki”, had changed their travel routes and were now attempting to use air routes to reach Europe.
The FIA director general also said that the third phase of the return of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan was underway.
Discussing the agency’s challenges, Dr Anwar said the FIA faced shortages of resources and personnel. He added that many of these problems would be resolved once the recruitment process was completed.
