India: Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy makes landfall on Gujarat’s coastal belt, colliding with full intensity on Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock.
According to NDMA, the cyclonic storm has completed its landfall on Gujarat’s coastal belt. Biparjoy, apart from striking the state of Gujarat, made landfall at Jaikhaev Port and completed the landfall process in approximately 6 to 8 hours between Thursday and Friday midnight.
The Meteorological Department states that the storm has completely made landfall within India but did not make landfall on any part of the Pakistani coastline.
According to the NDM, the cyclonic storm is situated at a distance of 210 kilometers from Karachi. The storm is 125 kilometers from Kathiawar’s south and southwest and 150 kilometers away from Thatta. The stormy winds are moving at a speed of 100 to 130 kilometers per hour. Due to the cyclonic storm, the waves are 10 to 15 feet high.
As per the report, the storm is expected to weaken and transform into a depression after initially being a weak cyclone. By this evening, it is likely to transform into a depression.
Authorities have stated that the storm will decrease its intensity by bringing heavy rainfall in its vicinity over a period of 24 hours. Karachi is 100% safe from any threat of heavy rainfall or stormy winds. There is a possibility of light rain in Karachi during the day.
