Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, has revealed that Imran Khan did not write any letter to any individual from jail.
According to details, Abdul Ghafoor Anjum disclosed that Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), did not write any letter to any individual while in jail. Any detainee or prisoner writing a letter from jail must have it inspected by the jail administration and the superintendent. Therefore, Imran Khan did not send any letter to the army chief or the Chief Justice of the country.
He explained that if any detainee wishes to write a letter, they must first obtain paper and pen from the jail administration. The letter is then handed over to the superintendent, who reads it to ensure it does not contain any messages of incitement, terrorism, public unrest, or harm to anyone. If it is clear, the letter is then sent to the intended recipient.
He further stated that convicted prisoners are allowed two visits per week, and if a prisoner writes a letter, they are allowed only one visit for that week. Imran Khan, however, has been allowed three visits weekly. Additionally, if a letter arrives for a prisoner from outside the jail, it is the superintendent’s responsibility to check and censor any message in the letter.
The superintendent also dismissed claims about Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, being held in solitary confinement, calling it baseless and nonsensical. He explained that any prisoner can only be placed in solitary confinement by an authorized court order, which is done to protect those who are under witness protection or vulnerable to outside influence.
He also stated that Bushra Bibi enjoys the same privileges as any convicted female prisoner, with additional facilities provided beyond the standard requirements. Claims about solitary confinement were labeled irresponsible and false. He added that both Imran Khan and his wife often appear in anti-terrorism courts, where they can meet with their legal team, but they cannot exchange letters while in court.
The superintendent clarified that Imran Khan also receives generous treatment regarding prison facilities, and despite complaints about solitary confinement and facilities, the judge personally inspected the conditions and found them satisfactory.
Regarding Imran Khan’s use of Twitter, the superintendent confirmed that communication via social media from jail is not possible.
