Justice Ali Baqar Najafi has taken oath as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad, where Chief Justice Yahya Afridi administered the oath.
The ceremony was attended by Supreme Court judges, senior lawyers, and other high-ranking judicial officials. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi served as a judge at the Lahore High Court prior to this appointment.
His appointment was finalized after the President of Pakistan approved it, followed by a formal notification issued by the Ministry of Law. He has been appointed under Articles 177(1) and 175A(8) of the Constitution, effective from the date of the oath.
It is worth mentioning that the Judicial Commission of Pakistan had recommended his appointment. With his induction, the number of judges in the Supreme Court has increased, which is expected to enhance the court’s overall efficiency.
