The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for rain with thunder in Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and other regions.
According to the department, most parts of the country will experience hot and dry weather today; however, some areas may receive rainfall with strong winds. On the other hand, there is no possibility of rain in Lahore today.
According to a spokesperson from PDMA, pre-monsoon rains are expected to begin across Punjab from this evening, with thunderstorms, rain, and dusty winds likely in various districts. This weather pattern is expected to continue until June 23.
The Meteorological Department stated that during the last 24 hours, most areas of the country remained extremely hot and dry. The highest temperature was recorded in Jacobabad at 49°C. However, heavy morning rain in Zafarwal made the weather pleasant.
According to the DG of PDMA, strong winds and rain are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala. Similarly, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali are also likely to receive rain.
Furthermore, from June 21 to 23, rain is also forecasted in southern Punjab cities, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar. On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, district administrations have been put on alert to deal with any potential situation on time.
