Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has stated that no discussion took place regarding meetings between PTI founder Imran Khan and his sisters during his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sohail Afridi said that development funds for the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been stalled for a long time. He added that the prime minister has directed the immediate release of Rs26 billion for the tribal districts, which is expected to accelerate development projects in those areas.
The chief minister said that the people of Tirah Valley, Kurram, and Bajaur have made significant sacrifices for peace, and that an allocation of Rs4 billion is not substantial when compared to those sacrifices. He remarked that linking such an amount to the sacrifices of the local population would undermine their contribution.
Sohail Afridi reiterated that no discussion took place regarding the PTI founder or meetings with his sisters, and stressed that no political matters were discussed during the meeting with the prime minister.
Responding to a question on terrorism, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said that terrorism has no province or country. He added that another meeting with the prime minister would be held after Eid to discuss terrorism in detail, noting that the provincial government has already been presenting its stance openly on the issue.
