The United States has imposed a new round of sanctions targeting trade in Iranian oil and petrochemical products, with five Indian nationals among individuals, companies and vessels affected by the measures.
According to the US State Department, the sanctions target companies, individuals and vessels linked to the United Arab Emirates, India, Türkiye, Iran and the United Kingdom.
Among the five Indian nationals sanctioned are Dhwani Nisarg Vora and Nisarg Sameer Vora, directors of Indian company SSPL Solutions.
The other three Indian nationals — Ketan Manohar Kochikar, Bhupinder Singh Dhal Singh Sahu and Harish Yam Hari Haran Chandakattil — are directors of Samudra Marine Services.
According to the US State Department, the companies were involved in the trade or import of Iranian petrochemical products.
Turkish national Said Ahmed Nursad has also been included in the sanctions. He serves as director and chief executive of Turkish company Nursad Petrokimya.
US officials said the company purchased approximately $3.8 million worth of Iranian petrochemical products.
UAE-based Arabian Pro Materials has also been accused of exporting around $2 million worth of Iranian petrochemical products.
The United States also imposed sanctions on UAE-based Horizon Ship Management and Hessonite Ship Management, with US officials alleging that vessels linked to the companies transported Iranian oil and gas products.
The US State Department said the measures were part of Washington’s efforts to restrict revenue Iran receives from its oil and petrochemical trade.
