Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking permission to hold a rally for expressing solidarity with the judiciary.
According to the petition, the Deputy Commissioner was approached by PTI for obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the rally but it was denied.
The petition requests the Deputy Commissioner to issue the NOC for the rally from Zero Point to F-9 Park in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision and to prevent harassment of peaceful PTI workers.
Furthermore, the request also asks for the court to provide security for the rally.
Asad Umar, a senior PTI leader, said that the people of the entire country stand with the Supreme Court and the Constitution.
He added that they are not being allowed to hold a peaceful rally for expressing solidarity with the Constitution.
He questioned which Constitution and democracy is it that does not allow for the expression of unity.
