Pakistan Army has accused Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, of levelling highly irresponsible, baseless and regrettable allegations against a senior serving Army officer without any evidence.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it has become a constant practice for the past one year in which officials of the armed forces and intelligence agencies are targeted with inflammatory and sensational propaganda for political purposes.
The army’s spokesperson said that Imran Khan had made highly irresponsible and baseless allegations against a senior serving Army officer without any evidence.
They demanded that the relevant political leaders take legal action and stop making false accusations.
The statement further stated that such false and malicious allegations were extremely regrettable, condemnable, and unacceptable.
It is clear that after the deadly attack on PTI chief in Abbottabad last year, Imran Khan had accused Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and a senior intelligence officer of being responsible for the attempted assassination and demanded their resignation.
Since then, several party leaders, including Imran Khan, have reiterated the claim that the Abbottabad attack was aimed at killing him, and that it was orchestrated by the PML-N government.
