The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the number of Mpox cases in Pakistan has increased to 3.
A third case of MPA has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the spokesman of the Ministry of Health said that two suspected cases of MPA were isolated by Border Health Services personnel at Peshawar Airport yesterday.
The samples were sent to Peshawar Reference Public Laboratory Khyber Medical University for diagnosis, one of the two samples tested positive, and the affected person belongs to Peshawar.
Director of Public Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Irshad says that the condition of the patient is better and he is being treated at the Police Services Hospital. This is the third confirmed case of m-pox in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, the contact tracing of the affected person is being screened, and the travel history of the affected person is from Gulf countries, Coordinator for Health Dr. Mukhtar said that the staff of Border Health Services are working diligently at all airports.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath said that Pakistan has formulated an effective strategy to prevent M.pox, and Pakistan’s surveillance system is strong worldwide. Border Health Services personnel are conducting rigorous screening of travelers.
Dr. Mukhtar said that the federal government and the provinces have formulated a coordinated strategy to protect the people from M-pox, and the federal government and the provinces are ensuring all the necessary measures.
