Young Indian cricket team batter Tilak Varma has set a unique world record in T20 Internationals.
On Saturday in Chennai, India defeated England by 2 wickets in a thrilling second match of their five-match T20 series. Chasing England’s total of 166, India successfully reached the target in the final over thanks to Tilak Varma’s brilliant batting.
The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 72 runs off 55 balls, helping his team secure a 2-0 lead in the series against England. With this 72 not out in the second T20, Tilak Varma achieved a remarkable feat—he now holds the record for the most runs scored in consecutive T20 International innings without being dismissed.
Over his last four unbeaten innings, Varma has accumulated a total of 318 runs, which includes two outstanding centuries. His scores in these four T20 innings are 72, 19, 120, and 107—all not out. Prior to this, the record for the highest total of runs scored in T20 Internationals without getting out across consecutive innings belonged to New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, who scored a total of 271 runs without being dismissed in 2023.
