Rainfall is expected to begin this evening in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Meteorological Department, while PDMA has issued an alert to all district administrations.
As per the PDMA’s issued advisory, the spell of rain is likely to continue intermittently till April 20. During this period, thunderstorms and rain are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur.
PDMA also stated that rain is likely in Peshawar, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat. Given the situation, a letter has been issued to all district administrations for precautionary measures against any untoward incidents.
The advisory also directed district authorities to ensure the availability of small and heavy machinery.
Authorities have been instructed to remain alert for road clearance in case of any emergency and to provide alternative routes in case of road closures.
Tourists are advised to contact PDMA’s helpline before heading to tourist destinations, considering the weather conditions and possible road blockages.
