New Delhi: After the announcement of the Asia Cup 2025 schedule, hardline groups in India have been voicing strong opposition to the Pakistan-India clash.
According to Indian media reports, the opposition escalated further when a petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking a ban on the high-profile match. The plea, however, was swiftly dismissed by a two-judge bench comprising Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, who remarked simply: “It’s just a match.”
The court’s remarks came as a setback to extremist groups attempting to politicize the game and prevent the encounter between the arch-rivals.
Pakistan and India are scheduled to face each other on September 14 in Dubai. If both teams progress to the Super Four stage, they could meet again, and a third encounter is possible should they reach the final.
