According to Indian media reports, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has stirred a fresh controversy by declaring that he does not want to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who currently serves as both the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The Indian team management has formally conveyed Yadav’s stance to the ACC.
It is important to note that Mohsin Naqvi holds dual responsibilities as the PCB Chairman and the current head of the ACC. Meanwhile, the PCB has written another letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC), once again demanding the replacement of match referee Andy Pycroft. This ongoing dispute has cast serious doubts over the scheduled match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Sources revealed that the PCB has made it clear that if Pycroft is not removed, Pakistan will stick to its position of boycotting the remaining Asia Cup matches. Sources further added that the inquiry conducted by the ICC against the controversial referee was nothing more than a formality, as neither all aspects were reviewed nor were the relevant individuals consulted.
