During the intense fire that broke out at Gul Plaza, located on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi’s busy commercial area, the mosque situated on the first floor of the building miraculously remained safe, drawing widespread attention and amazement.
Despite the third-degree fire, when rescue teams entered the mosque for the first time, heavy smoke was present inside. However, all copies of the Holy Quran kept there were found completely unharmed.
According to rescue sources, every copy of the Holy Quran placed on the mosque’s racks remained intact, and not a single Quran had fallen to the ground, which is being described as a remarkable occurrence amid such severe fire damage.
Similarly, the prayer mats and other religious items inside the mosque were also found in their original condition, despite extensive damage to other parts of the building, leaving rescue personnel visibly astonished.
Rescue officials stated that the mosque located on the first floor of Gul Plaza has been fully cleared, and it has been confirmed that no individual was present inside the mosque at the time.
Rescue sources further said that firefighting, search, and rescue operations at Gul Plaza are still ongoing, while efforts to locate any remaining trapped individuals in other sections of the building continue.
It is worth noting that the fire, which broke out between Saturday and Sunday night at Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road, has claimed 26 lives so far, while 83 people are still reported missing.
