Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that it must now be decided whether Afghanistan wants to live peacefully, adding that the Afghan interim government should show mercy toward its own people and avoid contributing to regional instability.
While addressing participants of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Security Workshop, the prime minister stated that the establishment of sustainable peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become inevitable and requires serious and practical efforts at all levels. He emphasized that the federal government is taking concrete steps to further improve the law and order situation in the province.
The prime minister said that protecting youth from extremism and guiding them toward a positive and constructive direction is the need of the hour, as young people represent the future of the country and their proper guidance is directly linked to national security.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that everyone must unite to counter terrorism, as national security remains the government’s top priority, and the state is fully determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from its roots.
He said that under the leadership of the field marshal, Pakistan achieved success in the war against India, which elevated the country’s stature at the global level and demonstrated its defensive capabilities to the world.
The prime minister further said that Pakistan is becoming economically stronger with each passing day and is moving forward rapidly on the path of economic growth, stressing that the pace of development must be further accelerated through a coordinated strategy.
He clarified that if Punjab develops while other provinces lag, it cannot be termed Pakistan’s development, adding that the country will truly progress only when all provinces develop together.
He added that to combat terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, other provinces contributed Rs800 billion from their shares, while Punjab provided Rs100 billion from its own share for Balochistan, reflecting strong national solidarity.
