A curfew has been imposed in several areas of Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a security operation carried out a day earlier, as authorities move to maintain law and order and prevent any potential security threats.
According to DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan, the security operation that began last night has now been completed, after which precautionary and administrative measures have been implemented to stabilize the situation.
Deputy Commissioner Faheem Ahmed said that a curfew has been enforced in Akbar Ali Khan, Jhando Khel, Sadda Khel, Bakool Khel, and Umarzai areas. He added that the curfew will remain in effect from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm to facilitate monitoring and clearance operations by security forces.
It is pertinent to note that police, the Counter Terrorism Department, and security forces conducted a joint operation in the Akbar Kallay and Asparkah areas of Domel in Bannu a day earlier.
Officials said that during the joint operation, five terrorists were killed while seven others were injured, following which security measures in the area were further tightened.
