PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif expressed his lack of confidence in the three-member bench of the Supreme Court that rejected the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s plea to delay the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Speaking at a press conference in London, he said that the decisions made by these benches have led the country to ruin.
Sharif advised his compatriots to “open their eyes,” as they are being made the subject of cruel jokes. “In 2017, everyone was happy, people had enough to eat, and they spent their days in happiness,” he said.
The former Prime Minister also said that at one point, he and others believed that the IMF was Pakistan’s savior and that the country would become one of the 10 to 20 most developed countries in the world. However, the recent decisions raise questions about where Pakistan is headed. “Who knows what they are doing, if this decision is granted, the dollar will be worth 500 rupees,” he added.
Sharif said that politics is being played for the sake of one person, and such decisions are being made for the benefit of that person. He questioned why no suo moto action is being taken against former army chief General (retd) Bajwa, who was involved in injustices against him, and his verdict was wrongly announced. He added that the government wants to impose decisions on the people but promised to avoid making such decisions that would harm the country and its people.
