US President Donald Trump stated in Washington that Iran is seeking negotiations, but its leadership fears public backlash if it openly agrees to a deal.
Speaking at an address, Trump said that the United States is in ongoing contact with Iran and negotiations are taking place, adding that Iran is eager for a deal but hesitant to express it publicly.
He claimed that Iranian leadership is concerned that announcing a deal could lead to severe reaction from its own people, while also fearing consequences from the United States.
Trump further said that he has helped stop eight wars globally and is close to winning another, attributing it to his policies.
The US President also claimed that Iran’s naval and air capabilities have been eliminated, but said that some reports give the impression that the US is losing the conflict.
