A Karachi family returning home after a sightseeing trip to Quetta came under fire near Mastung in Balochistan, leaving the husband dead and his wife seriously injured, while their two young daughters escaped unharmed.
According to police, Ali Jameel, a mobile phone businessman from Karachi, had travelled to Quetta with his wife Ayesha and their two daughters for a family vacation.
Officials said the family was returning to Karachi on Friday night when they lost their way and veered off the national highway into the Khand area of Dasht.
Police stated that unidentified armed men signaled the vehicle to stop. When the driver did not comply, the attackers opened fire on the car.
Ali Jameel was killed at the scene, while his wife Ayesha sustained serious injuries. Their two daughters, who were also in the vehicle, remained unharmed.
The injured woman was shifted to the Trauma Centre at Sandeman Provincial Hospital in Quetta, where she is receiving medical treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are conducting operations to identify and apprehend those responsible.
