Islamabad: The Supreme Court has issued a written order for the judicial proceedings of the Punjab election case. It does not mean that the Supreme Court’s order to hold elections in Punjab on May 14th has been lifted.
The three-page order issued by the Supreme Court today during the hearing stated that the petitioner has taken the stance that negotiations should be held throughout the country for holding elections on a single day.
The order stated that it is appropriate to give political parties the opportunity for negotiations, keeping in view the elections. However, providing an opportunity for negotiations does not mean that the Supreme Court’s order to hold elections in Punjab on May 14th has been lifted. In the current political situation, dialogue is a welcome step.
