Lahore: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, has stated that everyone is bound by the law and if the Constitution mandates that elections be held in 90 days, then it is not our choice but our duty. Protecting the Constitution is our fundamental responsibility.
While addressing a conference, Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that courts cannot pass executive orders; the ethical authority of court decisions must be respected. He said that it is necessary to follow the Constitution and not to search for excuses.
The Chief Justice stated that issues should be resolved through dialogue, and we have been informed that negotiations are not yet concluded, and we have our decision, which has its own power.
He said that if no appeal is made against the decision, it means that no one has objections, and if a review is filed, it will be heard. If the decision is not challenged, it will be the final decision.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said, “I am a very helpless person; I am only a member of the Supreme Court. Do not only support me, but support the Constitution and the law. Our existence is as a unit of the Constitution.”
