Islamabad: The local court has declared the case against the Chairman of the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) and Bushra Bibi regarding an unlawful marriage admissible and issued notices to both parties.
According to the details, the local court in Islamabad has announced its decision on the case of an unlawful marriage against the Chairman of PTI. In the verdict, the court deemed the case against the Chairman of PTI and Bushra Bibi regarding an unlawful marriage admissible for hearing.
Civil Judge Qudratullah issued notices to chairman PTI and Bushra Bibi for July 20. The court had reserved the decision yesterday after hearing the arguments on the petition of the petitioner Muhammad Hanif.
Advocate Rizwan Abbasi, in his arguments, stated that an unlawful marriage had taken place between Chairman PTI and Bushra Bibi during her ‘iddat’ period (waiting period after divorce or widowhood). Although the marriage ceremony occurred in Lahore, both parties were residing in Bani gala, Islamabad. According to the law, any city, either Islamabad or Lahore, can entertain the case.
Advocate Rizwan Abbasi had filed the application for the admissibility of the case of an unlawful marriage.
It is worth mentioning that in May, the court had deemed the application for a marriage case against Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, during the ‘iddat’ period, inadmissible. The presiding judge, Nasarmin ullah, had ruled that the court has no jurisdiction over marriage cases during the ‘iddat’ period.
During the hearing, Advocate Raja Rizwan Abbasi, representing the petitioner, revealed that there was a complaint against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Marriage during the ‘iddat’ period is not legally recognized. Bushra Bibi was in ‘iddat’ in January 2018, and the divorce took place in November. If the marriage was legally valid, then why was there a second marriage?
The judge had questioned how the marriage occurred in Lahore falls under this court’s jurisdiction, to which the lawyer responded that if bullets are fired at one place and death happens at another place, the trial can take place in both locations.
