Bad news for the people of Karachi as the government has decided to impose an additional burden of 24 billion 50 crores on electricity consumers in the city.
The government has made a decision to levy an extra charge of Rs. 1.52 per unit on electricity bills for Karachi consumers.
With this additional surcharge, the citizens of Karachi will bear a burden of Rs. 24.50 billion, and this surcharge of Rs. 1.52 will be applicable for one year.
The imposed surcharge on electricity bills will be adjusted in three monthly installments. In this regard, the federal government has submitted a request in NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority).
NEPRA will hold a hearing on this request on 15th August and will make a final decision regarding its approval after the hearing.
