According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a decision has been made to disconnect electricity connections of tax evaders throughout the country.
According to the details, virtual negotiations took place between the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the technical team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During this period, discussions on tax collection, including compliance risk management, took place across various sectors.
FBR sources said that the implementation of taxes on profitable business was discussed in the virtual talks. Also, the IMF team was briefed on the notices sent to the non-filers.
Sources say that the FBR briefed the IMF team, revealing that notices have been sent to 746,000 tax evaders so far. Following this, in the next phase, steps will be taken to disconnect electricity connections of tax evaders.
In this regard, the IMF team will issue a report on the negotiations with the FBR, while the negotiations between the IMF and the FBR will continue this week.
