The Supreme Court will hear arguments today on a petition seeking to officially declare the general elections scheduled for February 8 null and void.
Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faiz Isa will preside over a three-member bench to hear the petition. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarat Hilali will be part of the bench.
During the hearing, there is also a possibility of reviewing the allegations made by former Commissioner Rawalpindi, Liaqat Ali Chatha.
The petition filed by Brigadier (Retd) Ali Khan appeals that electoral malpractice, coupled with delays in results, poses a threat to democratic principles. He urges the Supreme Court to order new elections within 30 days under its supervision.
