During a news conference at Karachi Press Club, Chairman Petroleum Dealers Association Abdul Sami Khan said that if the government deregulates, they will close petrol pumps across the country and go on strike.
Abdul Sami Khan said that due to deregulation, oil will be sold at a higher price of 20 rupees in remote areas of the country. Oil smuggling is already a big problem.
He said that 75% of the oil industry is controlled by three major oil marketing companies, deregulation will establish the monopoly of major companies on oil prices. Abdul Sami Khan suggested to the government that if an agreement with Iran People will benefit.
