The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to dissolve it as a political party forthwith..
In its post, the ECP has raised serious questions about the recent intra-party elections of the PTI. The Election Commission has appointed the General Council without party elections. Concerns have been expressed about the selection and meetings of the central committee.
According to the Election Commission, the intra-party elections of Tehreek-e-Insaf have not been held for 5 years, so how are the various party organizations working? Keeping this issue in mind, it has been suggested to terminate PTI as a party.
It may be noted that during the recent hearing of the PTI intra-party election case, the Election Commission had directed Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan to submit a reply to the objections in the elections.
