Plot to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other senior military officials foiled in a timely manner.
According to international news agencies, the conspiracy to assassinate was not orchestrated by Russia or any other enemy country, but rather by two colonels of the State Guards who were responsible for ensuring the security of top officials including the President in Ukraine.
A statement released by Ukraine’s security services claimed that two colonel-ranked State Guardsmen were arrested for plotting to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky and other high-ranking military officers.
The statement added that the two arrested officers were recruited before the Russian war that started in February 2022 and were agents of Russia. The entire network was captured.
The statement of the Ukrainian Security Service also said that these two officers were to find someone who was responsible for the security of the President and could take the President hostage and kill him.
So far, there has been no response from Russia.
