Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan is determined to address environmental issues. In a message released on World Environment Day, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by the adverse impacts of climate change.
He mentioned that in recent years, Pakistan has faced incidents such as floods and droughts.
Earlier, in a statement, President Asif Ali Zardari had called for a commitment to confronting environmental challenges to ensure a healthy and safe future for the coming generations.
President Zardari emphasized that today, on World Environment Day, the focus is on raising awareness about issues like land productivity decline and desertification. He noted that Pakistan is one of the most affected countries by the negative effects of climate change.
President Zardari also mentioned that Pakistan has faced floods, droughts, extreme heat, and forest fires. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is the restoration of the Earth, preventing desertification, and protecting against drought.
