Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Interior Secretary, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Inspector General (IG) in a contempt of court case for failing to permit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a protest, despite a court order.
Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz issued the notices after removing objections on the contempt of court petition filed by PTI. The court has adjourned the hearing for one day after issuing the notices.
PTI’s lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, stated that they were not permitted to protest in Islamabad yesterday. “We received the Deputy Commissioner’s order after filing the contempt of court petition,” Shaheen said. “The Deputy Commissioner sent us an order rejecting our application after we had filed the petition.”
